I so appreciate Rachel Bortnick's remembrance of Rita which begins this issue. For that issue, Rita introduced Rita Falbel and Irena Klepfisz's interview with Renee Epelbaum, mother of three children who were "disappeared" in the late 1970s by the Argentinian reign of terror. The passing of Bridges' founding Advisory Board member Rita Arditti again brings me back to that first issue of Bridges. Finally, the ability of folklore and legend to speak to each of us individually is powerfully represented in Zelda Kahan Newman's short story about a raven visiting a synagogue on Yom Kippur. And it is her mother's family legend of a visit to a rose garden in Iraq, in 1930, that is at the heart of Berenice Fisher's stories of women's agency in war and peace activism. From Mendel's teaching on the mythical Garden, we move to Darlene Miller-Lanning's review of the artist Berenice D'Vorzon's vibrantly painted divine "gardens" in nature and then to Henri/etta Bensussen's tour of very real gardens in Europe. Stories of transmigrating souls are followed by stories of the soulless golem and Simone Yehuda's modern fairy tale of a pregnant golem named Rasa who seeks a "soul voice." As Yehuda does a riff on the connections between women's ability/inability to give birth and the Talmudic statement, "A woman is a golem," Heather Mendel's "Transforming Divinity, Transforming Ourselves" looks deeply into the Garden of Eden story to reveal Eve as representing the innate and necessary curiosity humans need to experience the miracle of life.
Legutko made me drool to re-read each of them. Broner, Francine Prose, Judith Katz, Pearl Abraham, and Ruth Knafo Setton. Since the speed buff in May 2021 Soulless has real ability to play in high level arena and can work as great team utility in Dungeons and Doom Tower. Soulless also has a chance to extend all debuffs on enemies with his A3 and creates a massive shield on himself. This is creativity truly let loose, with examples from the novels of E. Soulless is a control tank, able to stun, provoke and soak damage.

Just as I try to imagine and take leaps into the future, the subjects in this issue of Bridges take us back to some of the oldest and most timeless metaphors.
