Munch’s Ramme is the property known as Nedre Ramme which the artist Edvard Munch purchased in 1910 and maintained until his death in 1944. The park comprises lawns, water features, flower beds, herb and rose gardens, fruit trees, an arboretum and more. The park is ideal for taking a relaxing stroll, sitting and meditating, as well as for holding functions and garden parties of all sizes. Havlystparken, is an unique park facility offering views of the fjord.

We will also arrange temporary exhibitions based on Edvard Munch’s life and work at Ramme, as well as other Norwegian artists with links to the area. Ramme billedgalleri, the art gallery’s, permanent collection includes works by Christian and Oda Krohg, Frits Thaulow, Theodor Kittelsen, Paul Fischer, Oscar Wergeland and Edvard Munch, among others. Public events are arranged throughout the year. Ramme’s art and cultural activities consist of Ramme art gallery with both permanent and temporary art exhibitions, “Vognremissen” with horse-drawn carriage and old automobiles, the beautiful Havlyst Park, Edvard Munch’s former house and property, theatrical performances and concerts. Ramme fjordhotell is managed by Classic Norway Hotels and the aim is to give private guests, conference guests, groups, wedding parties, etc., a unique and magical experience! All products will be local produce either from the farm or in combination with local producers. The hotel’s restaurant serves organic food according to the season. You can choose between double or twin-bedded rooms, in addition to luxury suites, pavilions in the park, and even Edvard Much’s house on request. It is a full-service hotel with 42 rooms meticulously furnished to a high standard with antiques and period furniture. The hotel comprises two buildings – “Herberget” built in 1780s style and «Brenneriet» built in 1880s style. Ramme fjordhotell is the heart of the farm surrounded by fruit trees, cultivated fields, greenhouses, barns, stables and farm animals. Tours are being arranged around the farm and other events so that visitors can learn about organic farming and generally have a fun day out. They also specialise in protecting rare breeds of domestic animals as an important part of Norway’s cultural history and genetic diversity.
